Pisgah Youth Group
Pisgah's youth group consists of all members of Pisgah and friends of Pisgah in grades 6 through 12.
The youth group is fondly known by the church and the community as "A Light in the Attic." The youth named themselves this because as individuals and as a group, we strive to let the light of Christ shine through all that we do. Also, appropriately enough, our meeting room is in the "attic" of Pisgah's Academy Building.
The youth meet every Sunday evening from 4:30 to 7:00p.m. at the church where grades 9 thorugh 12 meet with leader Cathy Johnson and grades 6 through 8 meet with leader Melissa Scott. After discussion time, we come back together as one group to share a meal and play outrageous games.
On the third Friday of each month, the youth meet at 7:00p.m. for "Fun Friday" which features a different, fun outing each month.
Throughout the year, the youth participate in many church activities including Youth Sunday, the Annual Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt, Bible Camp, and much more. We perform many mission activities such as collecting and donating school supplies, Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas gifts, canned food drives and clothing drives. We also participate in the "30-Hour Famine" and "Souper Bowl Sunday" each year to raise money and awareness for world hunger.
Several times a year, the youth may be found at the church all night, participating in many fun-themed "lock-ins" which are always a favorite of both groups.
Why do we do all of this? We believe in order to grow and develop spiritually, it is important for young people to experience God's love first hand through fellowship, service to others, education and worship. These experiences are what Pisgah's youth strive to provide for the young people in our community.
