Purpose:
In mission, as followers of Christ, to reach out to people in need in our church and in the local, national and international community. And with prayerful and judicial consideration, to disburse the funds entrusted to the committee by the congregation of Pisgah Church to individuals and organizations who demonstrate need.
In evangelism, to extend an outreach to our community and the world beyond which shares the good news that Christ lives, loves and accepts us as we are and extends the invitation to join His church each and every day.
Mission and Evangelism Policy and Procedure Manual
Committee Chair Responsibilities:
· Set committee meeting dates
· Set an agenda for meetings
· Take minutes or designate a member to take minutes of meeting
· Function as a liaison between the Session and the committee
· Bring needs of the church and community before the committee
· Develop and present for the committee’s perusal, a budget which reflects the funds used and funds remaining for the calendar year at each committee meeting
· Keep an accurate record of the organizations and individuals who were supported by Pisgah’s M&E outreach
· Request funding from the church treasurer for the organizations and/or individuals that the committee has designated as beneficiaries of Pisgah Church mission at the monthly meeting
· Present to the church treasurer a voucher for the requested funds which shall include the date, the name of the organization, the address of the organization, the budget line item number, and the signature of the committee chair
· Submit an article to the Pisgah Post by the 3rd week of each month; overview of the committee’s work for the month
· Place or ask church secretary to place 5th Sunday offering envelopes in pews on appropriate Sundays
· Keep the Pisgah website information on M&E current
· Ensure that each Mission and Evangelism meeting is opened and closed with prayer
Mission and Evangelism Committee Responsibilities
· To prayerfully and judiciously disburse the funds entrusted to the committee by the congregation of Pisgah Church to individuals and organizations who demonstrate need
· To attend committee meetings on a regular basis and contribute ideas which reflect the teachings of Christ
· To research and select organizations/individuals in need of support through the financial and physical means of Pisgah Church
· To ascertain that organizations meet the validation protocol as set by M&E committee on July 9, 2007 (see attached protocol)
· To designate organizations/projects to receive 5th Sunday offerings
· To maintain the Welcome Bags for Visitors/Visitor Center in the narthex of Pisgah Church
· To plan and participate in Mission and Evangelism projects and outreach of Pisgah Church
· To aid the pastor in the evangelistic outreach of Pisgah Church
